Chicago-based artist Sen Morimoto has dropped the fantastic new single, ‘Diagnosis’. His unique style blends his jazz background with experimental flourishes and an instantly memorable rapping style. It’s a maximalist track that hits us with punchy, energetic drums throughout and refuses to let us get acquainted with one specific beat; cinematic strings, ethereal vocal pads, acoustic guitars and glitchy synths all take their turn accompanying his voice. On the video for the latest track, he explains: “The video for diagnosis is an over-the-top story about the music industry and an artist who thinks they can fix it from within (he can’t!)... The way the video is edited feels so true to how we experience life now. It’s a hyper-capitalist information overload where every part of your story is happening all at once.” His new album, also called Diagnosis, is going to be released on November 3rd, 2023. -Dan Peeke
